Millcreek Township will be sponsoring educational workshops on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The workshops, funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be presented by North Coast Energy Systems and held in the Assembly room located in the Millcreek Township Municipal building. The workshops are geared for adults, teachers (qualifies for Act 48), small businesses, and farmers in the Erie area. Workshops will cover a wide range of topics, including how wind and solar works, proper siting, costs, incentives, permitting, zoning, utilities and deregulation (removal of cost-caps) and energy efficiency. Workshops are interactive and conversational, with opportunities to see functioning equipment, perform mock site assessments, build models and learn about efficiency. No matter the goal -- saving on the electric bill or saving the planet, finding a career or reducing carbon footprint - there is a workshop for everyone. Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required and classes are limited to 30 attendees. Seats are expected to fill up quickly - early registration is highly recommended.
