In the fall of 2007, Greene Township Municipality was awarded a PA Energy Harvest Grant to cover the cost of installing a 10kW wind turbine with web-based monitoring at the Greene Township Municipal Building. The building is not only home to the Greene Twp Supervisors, but also houses other non-profit groups, all of whom will benefit from the electricity produced by the on-site wind turbine. The wind turbine will provide supplemental power to the Municipal Building, thereby reducing both consumption and utility bills, which will ultimately benefit residents in the community as well. The wind turbine, tower, components and monitoring system are scheduled to be delivered in June. If all things go smoothly, the wind turbine should be up and running by the beginning of July, 2008.
