Paradise Hill Wind Project These photos show a 10kW Bergey Excel-S wind turbine with black blades on a 140 ft. guyed lattice tower, and the associated electronic equipment. The system provides power to a residence and large utility building with a kitchen and walk-in refrigerator. It was the first 140 foot tower engineered for a Bergey 10kW tubine and the first to be installed. The 140 ft. tower can now be ordered as a standard item through Bergey. Why is the Tower So Tall? Why are the Blades Black? Paradise Hill Wind Turbine at Dusk>>>>>

| What Kind of System is This? This system is grid-tied (connected to the public utility grid), so when the turbine is producing more than the customer is using, the excess is fed into the grid and pruchased by the utility company. When the turbine is not producing enough to meet demand, then the existing utility takes over. The transition is seamless - no flickering lights or loss of power. Grid-tied Systems tend to be more "turn-key" than off-grid systems and required less maintenance. However, since these systems typically do not have batteries, they do not provide backup, if the grid goes down. |
